North Rhine-Westphalia: brother killed with poisoned banana pulp: judgment expected

The verdict in an unusual murder trial is expected in Cologne. A woman is said to have killed her brother with a poisoned mashed banana - allegedly because he wanted it.

Cologne (dpa / lnw) - In a murder trial at the Cologne Regional Court, the verdict is expected on Wednesday (11 a.m.). According to the indictment, a 63-year-old woman is said to have murdered her older brother, who was mentally and physically severely impaired after two traffic accidents, in September 2021 with a drug cocktail in banana pulp.

On the first day of the trial, the German admitted to having prepared the poisoned porridge. However, her brother wanted to die and ate the meal himself. As a motive, the woman had given that she wanted to spare him "decades of infirmity" in a care facility. After a change in supervisor at the brother, such a move was imminent.

Prosecutors are asking for a life sentence for treacherous murder. The defense sees no insidiousness at work, but does not call for a specific penalty.
