North Rhine-Westphalia: Control at a former border crossing: 90 kilos of khat discovered

Aachen (dpa / lnw) - On Wednesday night, federal police officers near Aachen discovered 97 kilograms of the drug khat in a car. The control took place at a little-used former border crossing with Belgium, as the federal police announced on Wednesday. The two 27 and 41-year-old occupants had folded down the back seat of their car and deposited five large, conspicuous bags there. The chewing drug was discovered in it. The drugs were confiscated and investigations into the matter are ongoing, according to the federal police. Khat is best known in East Africa.
