North Rhine-Westphalia: Corona incidence in NRW is 518.4

Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the corona incidence for North Rhine-Westphalia as 518.4 on Saturday morning. The number of new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants reported within seven days is currently higher in NRW than the national average. The RKI gave the nationwide seven-day incidence on Saturday morning at 436.4.

In the most populous federal state, 13,299 confirmed new cases and 38 deaths related to the corona virus were added within 24 hours. The RKI reported the highest incidences within NRW on Saturday for the Coesfeld district (704.8). The values were lowest in the district of Olpe (317.8) and in Duisburg (353.4).

However, this information only provides a very incomplete picture of the number of infections. Experts have been assuming for a long time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI - mainly because by far not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, late registrations and transmission problems can lead to the distortion of individual daily values.
