North Rhine-Westphalia: Customs find kilos of drugs in drivers and train passengers

Cologne (dpa / lnw) - Cologne customs confiscated almost ten kilograms of drugs from a driver. Almost four weeks ago, officials found more than 5.5 kilograms of cocaine and almost 4.2 kilograms of heroin in the 29-year-old, as the main customs office in Cologne announced on Tuesday. The drugs were installed in the 29-year-old's car and secured by a hidden unlocking mechanism, it said. The man was checked on the A3 near Rösrath and was on his way to Croatia from Antwerp. Traces of cocaine were found on his hands.

Customs found another drug on an express train from Amsterdam to Frankfurt: a 30-year-old man wanted to smuggle more than 1.1 kilograms of cocaine disguised as perfume and wrapped in gift paper. Both men have been arrested for the time being, it said.
