North Rhine-Westphalia: Family Committee deals with the Attendorn case

Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The family committee of the state parliament wants to deal again on Thursday (9.30 a.m.) with the case of a girl (8) from Attendorn who has been locked up for years. In a report to the committee, the Ministry for Family Affairs announced in advance that the district of Olpe had set up a project group to analyze and improve the processes in the youth welfare office.

The group includes a former professor from the University of Siegen and the chairman of the youth welfare committee. According to the ministry, there will also be six more jobs in the district social service from January 1st. In addition, it was ordered that risk assessments of children and young people be carried out with immediate effect using the four-eyes principle.

The district's youth welfare office has been criticized for not having investigated several anonymous references to the girl thoroughly enough over the years.
