North Rhine-Westphalia: freight train derailed: ammonia has to be pumped around

Rheinberg (dpa / lnw) - In Rheinberg in the district of Wesel, a freight train partially derailed on Wednesday. The locomotive was complete and half of a tank car with ammonia jumped out of the company's rails, said a spokesman for the Niag transport company. No one was injured and the vehicles were not damaged. Since the accident did not happen on a level crossing, public transport was not disrupted. The gaseous dangerous goods in the tank car had to be reloaded.

It was initially unclear how the locomotive and tank wagon could be salvaged. A heavy-duty crane could not be used, said the spokesman. Niag is a partially privatized transport company and provider of local public transport on the Lower Rhine.
