Düsseldorf (dpa/lnw) - The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the corona incidence for North Rhine-Westphalia as 637.8 on Wednesday. The number of new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants reported within seven days was 643.0 on Wednesday last week and 228.7 four weeks ago. Within 24 hours, 28,795 confirmed new cases and 45 deaths related to the corona virus were added in NRW.
The Minden-Lübbecke district (985.2) and the Euskirchen district (965.1) had the highest incidences on Wednesday. The values were lowest in the cities of Bielefeld (312.0) and Duisburg (399.7).
However, this information only provides a very incomplete picture of the number of infections. Experts have been assuming for a long time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI - mainly because by far not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, late registrations and transmission problems can lead to the distortion of individual daily values.
