Essen (dpa / lnw) - There was a fight between supporters of Rot-Weiss Essen and a fan of FC Schalke 04 in Duisburg Central Station. According to the police, the argument happened on Sunday evening when three Essen fans hit and kicked an 18-year-old Schalke supporter in the head, upper body and legs at 8.30 p.m. and then stole a fan scarf and a hat. According to witness statements, the people of Essen are said to have belonged to a group of around 50 supporters, some of whom were masked.

When the federal police arrived, only the injured person was still on site, who suffered minor injuries. A search was unsuccessful, police said. However, as part of the initial investigations, one of the unknown suspects was identified in a further altercation in Essen.

Criminal proceedings for the robbery, breach of the peace and dangerous bodily harm were initiated. The responsible criminal inspectorate takes over the investigation.
