North Rhine-Westphalia: Laumann versus Lauterbach: "Alarmism is annoying"

Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - NRW Health Minister Karl-Josef Laumann (CDU) has accused his counterpart Karl Lauterbach (SPD) of alarmism. Lauterbach had said that he expected a nationwide mask requirement from October. "This alarmism gets on my nerves. Nobody knows today what the situation will be like on October 1st," said Laumann in an interview with the "Westfälische Nachrichten" (Wednesday).

He also criticized the draft of the new Infection Protection Act: "Among other things, one regulation bothers me: Every retirement home should have a vaccination, hygiene and test officer in the future. Who should do this work? There are 2,300 retirement homes in NRW. Should we hire the staff take care where it is already tight? We don't need such regulations. The old people's homes have dealt with the whole issue well in the last two and a half years."
