North Rhine-Westphalia: boys lay stones and pavement slabs on tracks: and film

Datteln (dpa / lnw) - Two teenagers are said to have laid stones and a pavement slab on a railway track near Datteln. According to their own statements, they also filmed this with their smartphone. A freight train had to make an emergency stop. The driver ran over the stones, but recognized the plate in time and was able to prevent a collision, the federal police said on Wednesday. "The students' mothers were not very happy when they called the police officers," it said.

The 13- and 14-year-old boys fled their dangerous prank on Tuesday after federal police spotted them. Railway employees could have held the boys, it said. The minors admitted to the crime. One of the two said he filmed it. The smartphone was confiscated as evidence. It was still unclear what the teenagers intended to do with the video.

The boys were taken into custody and their legal guardians informed. The emergency services had again urgently warned of the dangers and possible serious consequences of their track action, it said.

The train was not damaged, but it was delayed. An investigation into the dangerous intervention in rail traffic has been initiated.
