Neuss (dpa / lnw) - A truck accident on the A57 near Neuss led to significant traffic delays in the morning rush hour on the busy route in the Rhineland. According to the first findings of the police, a semi-trailer truck driving in the direction of Krefeld left the roadway on Friday morning shortly after 6 a.m. in the Neuss-Süd motorway triangle and drove unbraked onto a concrete deflector. The truck turned due to the force of the impact and came to rest on the hard shoulder, said a spokesman for the highway police in Düsseldorf. Rescue workers took the injured 33-year-old truck driver to a hospital.
The A57 towards Krefeld has been completely blocked in the area. It is possible to exit via the A46 in the direction of Düsseldorf/Wuppertal. Because of the complex salvage work, traffic delays are still to be expected in the morning. According to the traffic overview of the State Ministry of Transport, a long traffic jam developed after the truck accident and drivers had to reckon with a loss of time of more than an hour on the A57 northbound between Cologne and Düsseldorf for a long time. The WDR reported ten kilometers of traffic jams on the A57 from Cologne-Worringen.
