North Rhine-Westphalia: Missing person suffocated in a slag pool: No third-party fault

Duisburg (dpa / lnw) - The worker found dead on the Thyssenkrupp Steel factory premises in Duisburg at the beginning of the week suffocated in the viscous mass of a slag pool. That was the result of the autopsy of the 26-year-old, the police said on Thursday. There is still no evidence of third-party debt. The circumstances would be further investigated.

The worker, who worked for a subcontractor on the site, had been missing since last Friday. An extensive search operation with police helicopters, personal tracking dogs, drones and the support of plant security was initially unsuccessful.

On Monday evening, the body was blown up when employees filled up the pool, which was a few meters deep. According to the investigation, the 26-year-old had done cleaning work directly on the pool last Friday, the message said.
