Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - In North Rhine-Westphalia, around 123,700 tons of dog food were industrially produced in the first half of 2022. That was 9.8 percent more for Bello and Co. than in the same period last year, as the state statistics office IT.NRW announced on Friday for the upcoming "International World Dog Day" on October 10th.
Last year 2021, the companies produced around 231,800 tons of dog food. That was a good 5 percent more than in the previous year and even almost 12 percent more than in 2019. The sales value of the feed produced increased significantly to 416 million euros. The average production value per kilogram in 2021 was 1.79 euros, nine cents higher than a year earlier - and a whopping 81 cents higher than ten years earlier.
Around 1.14 million tons of feed for the four-legged friends were produced nationwide in 2021 - a fifth of this came from North Rhine-Westphalian companies.
