Münster (dpa / lnw) - The pleas in the proceedings surrounding the former boss of the Sparda-Bank Münster, Enrico Kahl, are expected in front of the district court in Münster today. According to the indictment, the manager is said to have billed private parties, meals in posh restaurants, gifts and travel at the expense of his employer in hundreds of cases. Altogether, according to the public prosecutor's office, the damage amounted to millions. In the process, Kahl made a partial confession and admitted damage of 460,000 euros. A verdict is expected to be pronounced on October 28.

Kahl was dismissed without notice by the supervisory board in 2015 after routine checks. The bank manager was a board member for 20 years and has been CEO of the cooperative bank since 1998. At the time of his dismissal, the bank had total assets of 2.3 billion euros. In 2018 Sparda-Bank Münster merged with Sparda-Bank West based in Düsseldorf.
