North Rhine-Westphalia: search for missing tailor: new witnesses

Moers (dpa / lnw) - After the disappearance of a 56-year-old tailor from Moers, the police received new evidence from witnesses. A police spokeswoman said on Sunday whether they would help the officials in their investigations. Investigators believe the man was the victim of a crime.

The police had recently expanded the search for the man who had been missing since mid-September with wanted posters. Three weeks after the tailor's disappearance, the man's apartment above his studio was set on fire by an unknown person, the police reported on Friday.

Body-sniffing dogs also attacked the house. On Friday, a piece of forest in Moers was also searched with corpse dogs, initially without success. The public prosecutor's office offered a reward of 3,000 euros for information about the identification of the perpetrator or perpetrators. Investigators declined to comment on the possible background to the crime.
