North Rhine-Westphalia: Small birds with a big beak: black storks hatched

Cologne (dpa / lnw) - The rattle storks are said to bring the babies, the black storks have now had their own: three chicks of the big-beaked animals have hatched in Cologne Zoo. The trio saw the light of day a good six weeks ago, the zoo announced on Thursday. Now they have been presented to the public. There are two male cubs and one female. The mini birds are already happily stalking through their new home, the so-called Owl Monastery at Cologne Zoo.

Black storks are considered to be significantly more shy than white storks, which live closer to humans. They are known - not surprising considering their name - for their black colored plumage.
