Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The Medica trade fair in Düsseldorf will be presenting new products from the field of medical technology from Monday. Around 4,400 exhibitors from around 70 countries present their products in the exhibition halls of the state capital. These include, for example, a computer-assisted anamnesis system that is intended to relieve the medical staff in hospitals when they are admitted to patients. With the "Tedias" project, researchers at the Fraunhofer Institute want to digitize routine work in everyday clinical practice.

A special smartwatch for nurses is intended to avoid errors when taking blood from patients in the future. The watch records the time it takes to apply a pressure bandage or the total duration of blood collection and links this data to the blood sample and a time stamp. This is intended to prevent incorrect laboratory results and mix-ups.

The diversity of the application areas of robotics in medical technology will also be shown. For example, brain tumor biopsies or hair transplants can be performed with new devices. A start-up from Japan is showing a measuring device that is intended to make it easier to monitor the health of expectant mothers and their unborn children. In addition, a container-like mobile biological laboratory for use in companies will be presented.
