Wiehl (dpa / lnw) - In a truck accident in Wiehl (Oberbergischer Kreis), two men were seriously injured - one of them life-threatening. The trailer truck loaded with woodchips left the road on Monday morning before a roundabout in a left turn, the police said. The truck then crashed into a crash barrier and rolled over on the sloping embankment. The driver's cab was so badly damaged that the 21-year-old driver and his 23-year-old passenger had to be freed by the fire department.

According to the police, the driver suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital by rescue helicopter. The passenger was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The driver told first responders that he had to avoid an oncoming car, it said. Police are looking for information about the cause of the accident. The scene of the accident remained closed for the time being.
