Olympic Games 2024: these events which will be accessible for free

Since its opening on February 15, the ticket office for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games has been under fire from critics. In question: complex access methods, prices deemed repulsive for a large number of French people and above all, disciplines which are already sold out, such as fencing, judo, climbing, BMX or even triathlon. The good news is that it will be possible to attend certain events without dipping into your savings, as our colleagues from Ouest-France remind us.

The highlight of the competition, the opening ceremony of the Paris Games will be open to everyone – provided you have a free ticket and within the limit of 500,000 people. A show that promises to be magical since, for the first time, it will not take place in a stadium, but in the heart of the capital, on the Seine.

More than 160 boats welcoming sportsmen and women from more than 200 delegations will parade on the river for nearly six kilometers between the Pont d'Austerlitz and the Pont d'Iéna, with a finish at the Trocadero.

Then, during the two weeks of the Games, several events will be accessible free of charge. These include the marathon - with a highly symbolic route -, walking, road cycling, rowing, open water swimming - which will take place directly in the Seine - as well as the triathlon . Note, however, that access to the finish of these events will be reserved for visitors with tickets (paying).

In addition, the public will be welcome for free for the sailing events, which will take place at the Marina de Marseille, and the surfing events, based in Tahiti.

Ouest-France recalls, moreover, that Emmanuel Macron had undertaken that the State acquire 400,000 tickets to redistribute them free of charge "to young people and schoolchildren, especially those under 16 years old".
