On a trip to Düsseldorf: Prince Harry is given a special honor

In September, Düsseldorf is expecting important visitors. If the ex-royals Harry and Meghan ever come to Germany, it must of course be duly appreciated. And so Harry should immortalize himself in the Golden Book of the North Rhine-Westphalian state capital.

Royal splendor in Düsseldorf City Hall: Britain's Prince Harry is expected to sign the state capital's Golden Book during his visit on September 6th. The German Press Agency found out. The program then includes a boat trip across the Rhine to the Düsseldorf stadium.

The "Invictus Games", initiated by Harry, will take place in the "Merkur Spiel-Arena" from September 9th to 16th, 2023. Exactly one year earlier, the prince and Duchess Meghan came to Düsseldorf for a day to meet organizers and athletes and their families. The visit was made public on Monday.

"We are very pleased to present the host city and the Invictus Games Park in the 'Merkur Spiel-Arena' for next year's games to the patron of the Invictus Games Foundation," said Mayor Stephan Keller of the CDU, according to the announcement.

The Invictus Games, a sports competition for soldiers and veterans injured in action, is considered a project close to Prince Harry's heart. They first took place in 2014. With Düsseldorf, a venue in Germany is planned for the first time.

According to British media, Harry and Meghan are expected in Manchester the day before their visit to Düsseldorf at the "One Young World Summit". Harry is scheduled to speak at the WellChild Awards in London on September 8th. It is not yet known whether the two spend the night in Düsseldorf.
