Saxony: 445 new trainees in Saxony's police: Eleven are top athletes

Dresden (dpa/sn) - 150 young women and 295 young men started their training with the Saxon police force on September 1st. Eleven of them are top athletes and were included in the sports promotion group, as the Ministry of the Interior in Dresden announced on Friday. While her apprenticeship is stretched to four and a half years due to the training and competition phases, the other applicants could be police chiefs in two and a half years.

As in the previous year, almost 3,000 young people applied for places at the three police schools in Schneeberg, Chemnitz and Leipzig. With the training, the 445 selected officers are recalled and receive a monthly training allowance of around 1,300 euros - and in the coming days also the uniform. On October 1, around 150 future inspectors will begin their bachelor's degree at the Saxon Police University and several prospective detective inspectors will begin their qualification to become so-called cybercops.
