Doberschütz (dpa/sn) - A 53-year-old died in a traffic accident on the B87 near Doberschütz in the district of North Saxony. The 31-year-old driver of a van drove into oncoming traffic for unknown reasons and collided head-on with a truck, the police said on Monday morning. The truck skidded early on Sunday morning and overturned to the left into the ditch. The 53-year-old passenger in the van died at the scene of the accident. The 43-year-old truck driver suffered minor injuries and the 31-year-old van driver suffered serious injuries.
The property damage is estimated at a mid-six-figure amount. The B87 had to be completely closed for several hours to recover the vehicles. The traffic accident service is investigating on suspicion of negligent homicide.
