Saxony-Anhalt: ADAC balance sheet: construction site on the A2 causes the most traffic jams

Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - In 2022, a construction site on the A2 at the Elbe bridge near Hohenwarthe caused the longest and most traffic jams in Saxony-Anhalt. There were 565 traffic jams with a total of 1,655 kilometers in both directions, reported the ADAC in its traffic jam balance sheet for 2022. A total of 5,060 traffic jams were counted on the country's motorways. They caused a waiting time of almost 5200 hours. There were problems especially in the construction site areas. Overall, vehicles were backed up on the autobahns over a distance of around 11,000 kilometers last year.

The traffic jam leader among the autobahns in 2022 was again the A2, which, according to information, was just ahead of the A9 with around 1,600 traffic jams, almost 4,500 kilometers of traffic jams and a total traffic jam duration of 2,100 hours. With a little more distance, the A14 takes third place again, as it was also said.

After the Elbbrücke construction site, the remaining places in the top five congestion sections are all on the A9. There, the vehicles on the important north-south connection also accumulated in front of and in construction site areas. According to the automobile club, third place is the section between Naumburg and Droyßig. The construction site at Kreuz Rippachtal took fourth and fifth place in the ranking.

According to the ADAC, the longest single traffic jam of the year was outside of the holidays. At the beginning of December, vehicles were backed up on the A9 between Leipzig-West/Merseburg and Lederhose over a distance of 21 kilometers for around eleven hours.
