Saxony-Anhalt: Burgenland district gets community emergency paramedics

Weißenfels (dpa/sa) - With a community emergency paramedic, emergency services in the Burgenland district should be relieved in the future. From the summer of 2023, specially trained emergency services should be available in the Zeitz region to drive to patients who need treatment but do not need to be transported to the hospital, the Ministry of the Interior and the district announced on Wednesday. In addition to the district of Wittenberg, the district is the second region in which the concept is to be tested.

Among other things, the paramedics receive additional training in the field of nursing. Your support is intended to improve emergency care in rural areas and relieve hospitals in the region. The concept is an "innovative approach," said Interior Minister Tamara Zieschang (CDU) when the approval notice was handed over in Weißenfels. The district administrator of the Burgenland district, Götz Ulrich (CDU), added: “With the community emergency paramedics, we are now breaking new ground by converting healthcare into a sustainable system. In the end, all patients will benefit.”
