Halle (dpa/sa) - The construction companies in Saxony-Anhalt generated sales of almost 1.2 billion euros in the first half of this year. That was around 113 million euros or 11.9 percent more than in the same period last year, as the State Statistical Office announced on Friday in Halle. According to the information, sales in the first six months of this year were significantly higher than in the previous year in all sectors of the construction industry.
Residential construction and building construction each achieved the largest increase in sales of 22.6 percent compared to the first half of 2021. Incoming orders in the construction industry totaled almost 1.4 billion euros in the first six months of 2022. That was around 196 million euros or 16 percent more than in the same period last year.
At the end of June this year, around 16,900 people were employed in the construction industry in Saxony-Anhalt. According to the state office, that was 1.6 percent less than in the same period last year.
