Saxony-Anhalt: Feininger Gallery in August without a special exhibition area

Quedlinburg (dpa/sa) - The special exhibition area of the Lyonel Feininger Gallery in Quedlinburg will be closed from August 1st to 26th for renovations. Visitors would have to pay less for a tour during this time, as the museum reports on its website. The reason is preparations for the exhibition by Sabine Moritz, wife of the artist Gerhard Richter. According to the information, "Lobeda or the Reconstruction of the World" will be shown from August 28 to January 8, 2023.

Moritz was born in Quedlinburg in the Harz Mountains in 1969. The artist spent part of her childhood in Jena's prefabricated housing estate Neu-Lobeda. About a hundred drawings, color studies and photographs are on display.

The museum in the UNESCO World Heritage city of Quedlinburg is the only one in the world dedicated to the work of the painter, graphic artist and Bauhaus creator Lyonel Feininger (1871-1956). The gallery has been part of the Moritzburg Halle Foundation since 2006, supported by the Saxony-Anhalt Cultural Foundation.
