Saxony-Anhalt: Fridays for Future mobility protest in several cities

Magdeburg/Halle (dpa/sa) - In several cities in Saxony-Anhalt there were demonstrations for a climate-friendly mobility turnaround on Friday. According to the organizers, around 1,100 demonstrators followed the call by Fridays for Future (FFF) in Magdeburg. According to the organizers, 1,500 people took to the streets in Halle. The police did not have the final number of participants in the afternoon. There were other actions in Dessau and Stendal. "We are taking to the streets today for fairer mobility that is suitable for all people in expansion and accessibility," said a spokesman for FFF.

Among other things, the environmentalists from Fridays for Future are calling for a mandatory phase-out of coal by 2030 and a ban on the installation of fossil combustion engines from 2025.
