Saxony-Anhalt: Linke proposes a legally enforceable claim for a care place

Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - The left in Saxony-Anhalt proposes a legally enforceable claim to a care place. "We have a problem in the municipalities and that means not providing enough care places," said Eva von Angern, chairwoman of the left-wing parliamentary group, on Monday in Magdeburg. "We urgently need to work on that. Of course we're increasing the pressure in this way."

The question is how the state and the municipalities could manage to create enough care places. At least one public reporting system for free places in nursing is necessary.

The left repeated the call for better pay for workers in care and support. Working conditions need to be improved. Left state chairwoman Janina Böttger emphasized that given the increasing shortage of skilled workers, public services of general interest are at risk. Those on whose backs the shortage is already being carried out today must be strengthened.

The state board and parliamentary group of the left had previously met for a two-day consultation in Bad Dürrenberg. In the coming years, the left wants to put good work at the center of its politics. With attractive working conditions, people should be motivated to stay, come and come back.
