Saxony-Anhalt: Saxony-Anhalt is sticking to language day-care centers

Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - In Saxony-Anhalt, the language daycare centers should continue their work beyond the summer. This was announced by the Ministry of Social Affairs on Tuesday. The state will take over the financing of the previous federal program.

"Language support in the day-care centers lays the foundation for a successful educational path. It remains essential, also in view of the deficits that have arisen with the corona pandemic and the influx of children from Ukraine," said Minister of Social Affairs Petra Grimm-Benne (SPD).

The language day-care centers will be funded from federal funds until June 30, 2023. From July 1st, the Ministry of Social Affairs wants to secure the funding independently. According to the information, this affects 209 language day-care centers in Saxony-Anhalt with 236 half-time specialist positions and 20 half-way specialist advice centers. Continued employment will remain secured until the end of 2024.
