Saxony-Anhalt: The left wants better conditions for integration

Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - The left is pushing for course corrections in migration policy in the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt. "The country must finally create the opportunity to expand the capacities for the initial reception of new arrivals and to improve the conditions for integration," said domestic policy spokeswoman Henriette Quade of the German Press Agency.

A motion to this effect is to be dealt with in Parliament next week. "It is absurd and politically dishonest that on the one hand there are complaints about capacity problems and at the same time people are forced to live in communal accommodation for years and are excluded from the possibility of independently securing their livelihood," says Quade. Integration-promoting decisions are needed on site instead of calls for border closures. The application also states that the residence requirement for refugees and asylum seekers should be relaxed.
