Halle (dpa/sa) - The number of building permits in building construction fell significantly in Saxony-Anhalt in 2022 compared to the previous year. Around 4540 construction measures had been approved, the State Statistical Office announced on Monday in Halle. This corresponds to a decline of around 16 percent compared to the previous year.
According to the statistics authority, the number of building permits in residential construction fell from 4,500 in the previous year to around 3,800 in 2022. "The figures for 2020 and 2021 were clearly missed," said a spokeswoman. Despite the decline compared to the two previous years, this is the third-highest number of housing permits since 2003. In non-residential construction, which mainly includes business, office and retail buildings, around 760 building permits were registered. According to the statisticians, this is the lowest value since the statistics began in 1991.
