Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - The traffic safety campaign Fifty-Fifty-Taxi for young people continues to be well received. In the first six months of this year, almost 4,000 tickets were redeemed, the Ministry of the Interior announced on Saturday in Magdeburg. That is 52 percent more than in the whole of 2021.
Since 1999, 16 to 26-year-olds have been able to take a taxi home at half price on Fridays, Saturdays and public holidays from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Each ticket costs 1.25 euros but is worth 2.50 euros. The difference is paid by various partners, including the state and the ADAC.
There is still a summer promotion until the end of August, where you get three free tickets when you buy nine tickets. According to the Ministry, taxi rides worth 30 euros are possible for 11.25 euros.
