Saxony-Anhalt: Unknown people put e-scooters on rails: regional train broken

Bernburg (dpa/sa) - near Bernburg, a regional train traveling at around 80 kilometers per hour hit an e-scooter that was placed on the track. Previously unknown people put him on the tracks on Sunday evening, the officials said on Monday. The collision damaged the radiator and other parts of the train. However, the train and the six travelers were able to continue the journey to Bernburg station. Nobody got hurt. Due to the collision and the resulting blockage of the route, the following trains were delayed by a total of almost five hours. A connection was therefore completely lost. The police have initiated criminal proceedings because of a dangerous intervention in rail traffic, damage to property and disruption of public services.
