Saxony: Cross-border bus line for Görlitz-Zgorcelec

Görlitz (dpa/sn) - Görlitz will get a new cross-border bus line by spring 2022 at the latest. The A-Bus is to be extended to Zgorzelec and to drive around the center of the neighboring Polish city in a ring - probably every 30 minutes from Monday to Saturday, as was announced at the joint meeting of the city councils on Tuesday evening. It could possibly be ready for the timetable change in December. It was also agreed to introduce a uniform ticket for city traffic on both sides of the Neisse.

The mayors also signed a letter of intent to build another road bridge across the border river. A feasibility study is to be commissioned and financing sought. "We need them. People can then commute more easily between the two cities, for example to go shopping and to work," said Zgorzelec Mayor Rafal Gronicz. Traffic on the only connection has more than doubled since 2006 - more than 12,000 vehicles roll over it every day.
