Chemnitz (dpa/sn) - The regional directorate of the Federal Employment Agency will provide information on developments in the Saxon labor market on Friday (10 a.m.). In August, unemployment rose for the third month in a row, and at an unusually high rate. Almost 123,500 people were registered as unemployed. The rate climbed from 5.6 to 5.9 percent.
The prospects for the future are clouded, the head of the regional directorate, Klaus-Peter Hansen, stated at the end of August and pointed to many risks. According to a survey by the Ifo Institute, the business climate in the east German economy has deteriorated drastically.
