Saxony: Jusos call for Minister Dulig to use "Heibo"

Dresden (dpa/sn) - The Jusos in Dresden have asked Economics Minister Martin Dulig (SPD) to work to preserve the Heidebogen north of the state capital. "Martin Dulig, as the responsible minister of the Oberbergamt, must stop the planned clearing and thus stop the eviction," said Juso chairman Matthias Lüth on Tuesday. A general rethinking must finally begin; the climate cannot be negotiated with. The Jusos are the youth organization of the SPD.

The piece of forest, called "Heibo" for short, is to be cut down for gravel extraction. Forest squatters want to prevent this and have set up a protest camp with tree houses, which is now to be cleared. The company KBO in Ottendorf-Okrilla wants to continue quarrying gravel in the region and has the license to do so.
