Saxony: Lachmesse: Small stages welcome international guests

Leipzig (dpa/sn) - Cabaret, songwriting, poetry slam: The International Humor and Satire Festival, the Leipzig Lach Fair, is to be opened in Leipzig on Sunday. According to the organizers of the festival, 74 events are planned on eleven different stages. Between October 16th and 23rd, traditional venues such as the Leipziger Pfeffermühle and the Sanftwut cabaret open their doors at the Leipzig Lach Fair to welcome international cabaret artists on their stage.

The concern of the organizers is to promote the charm of the arts for the small stage, it said in a statement. The main focus of the Lachmesse will be political cabaret, but viewers will be brought closer to the variety of content and forms of cabaret. Creatives therefore come from near and far and belong to different generations.

During the festival week, appearances by well-known stars of the scene are planned. Among others, the German cabaret artist Anny Hartmann will be performing in the academixer basement on October 22nd. The young talent prize of the fair, which is endowed with 1000 euros, will also be awarded: On October 19, the audience will decide whether the prize will go to Daniel Gracz and Fabian Hagedorn, Christine Zeides or Marie Diot. At the end of the event, a gala will also take place, with Horst Evers, Maxi Schafroth and Christoph Fritz on stage, among others. The audience will be guided through the program by the entertainer Désirée Nick.
