Saxony: letter of confession after burning vehicles

Leipzig (dpa / sn) - After the fire of several vehicles of the state company Sachsenforst, supporters of the left-wing autonomous scene have confessed to the fact. The public prosecutor's office has a letter of confession, said chief public prosecutor Ricardo Schulz on Tuesday. The Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk reported first. The investigations continued, it said.

The public prosecutor's office is currently unable to provide any further information on the case, Schulz explained. Four of the company's vehicles were on fire last week. The police suspected arson and did not rule out a connection to the evacuation of the Heidebogen protest camp near Dresden. The vehicles were parked on a company site in the Connewitz district. According to the police, the property damage was at least 100,000 euros.

Sachsenforst is currently clearing a piece of forest in the Heidebogen ("Heibo") near Ottendorf-Okrilla. Conservationists had occupied the area for a year and a half and built tree houses there. The clearing of the camp has been going on since Wednesday. The company KBO in Ottendorf-Okrilla wants to continue quarrying gravel in the region and has the license to do so.
