Saxony: Lighting of the Thomaskirche now with LED technology

Leipzig (dpa / sn) - The Thomaskirche in Leipzig is now illuminated with LED technology. The parish of St. Thomas announced on Friday that energy consumption will be reduced by at least 60 percent in the future. The lamps in the nave and on the side galleries were converted. There should be a separate concept for the concert lighting on the west gallery. The conversion cost around 25,000 euros and was financed by a single donation. The conversion lasted from the beginning of September to the end of October. The Thomaskirche is one of the most famous places of worship in the region. Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) was cantor there.
