Saxony: Man stops drunk wrong-way driver on the Autobahn

Ohorn (dpa / sn) - Through the courageous intervention of a man, a drunk wrong-way driver was stopped on Autobahn 4 from Dresden to Görlitz. As the Görlitz police department announced, the 35-year-old had entered the motorway in the wrong direction at the Ohorn junction on Sunday night. Another 35-year-old man - a member of a volunteer fire brigade - was also driving his car on the autobahn and reacted with lightning speed. "He got in the way of the wrong-way driver who was standing on the hard shoulder with his vehicle, so that he could not continue his journey," it said. The highway police took him to a hospital to have his blood drawn. A first alcohol test showed a value of 1.12 per mille.
