Pirna (dpa / sn) - Despite a forest fire in the rear part of the mountains, there has not been a large wave of cancellations from holidaymakers in Saxon Switzerland. There are cancellations, but most people would find out what is still possible in the region, said Tino Richter, Managing Director of the Saxon Switzerland Tourism Association, on Friday on request. "We feel a lot of understanding. Many come anyway." One is optimistic and now hopes for rain at the weekend so that the firefighting can go ahead.
"If the ban on entering the forest is lifted, then we can take another step back to normality," said Richter. He reminded that the fire is happening in a locally narrowly defined area. All those responsible are aware of the importance of forests for tourism. He is convinced that the ban on entering the forest will be relaxed as soon as possible or restricted to the night hours.
