Saxony: preliminary proceedings against police officers for coercion

Dresden (dpa / sn) - The Dresden police have initiated investigations against an officer of the riot police on suspicion of coercion. The reason is an operation last Saturday when police officers broke up an unauthorized music event in the evening, as the Dresden police department announced on Tuesday. The 31-year-old riot police officer is said to have said: "If you come closer, we'll shoot back." A video of it was published on social media, it said. "In the present situation, the threat to use firearms was inappropriate," said Dresden police chief Lutz Rodig. The video was secured and handed over to the Dresden public prosecutor.
