Saxony: Saxony wants a close partnership with Uganda

Dresden (dpa/sn) - Saxony is striving for a close partnership with Uganda and is supporting projects in the African country this year and next with a total of 400,000 euros. "We want schools and municipalities from our two countries to enter into partnerships in the future. We also want to promote cooperation on a scientific and economic level," said Head of State Oliver Schenk (CDU) on Wednesday in Dresden. He had visited Uganda in 2022. There are already good connections, for example between the University Hospital in Leipzig and the Kiruddu Hospital in Kampala, as well as between Ugandan and Saxon companies in the agricultural and IT sectors.

According to the State Chancellery, projects in Uganda can also receive financial support from the Saxon Small Projects Fund, which is administered by the North-South Bridges Foundation. Cooperation with Uganda is coordinated by the Development Policy Network of Saxony.
