Freiberg (dpa/sn) - Despite the suspected cyber attack on the TU Bergakademie Freiberg, prospective students can apply and enroll for the coming summer semester until the end of March. The university announced this on Wednesday. These include courses in industrial engineering, engineering or applied natural sciences. Interested parties can also register for other computer science, engineering or geoscientific courses via a special link.
According to the TU Freiberg, there was a cyber attack on the university data center in January, after which computer systems were initially disconnected from the Internet. The exact background is currently still unclear. In this case, cybercrime experts from the State Criminal Police Office are investigating. The TU Freiberg has filed a criminal complaint against unknown persons. Unlike the university, the police have so far not wanted to speak of a cyber or hacker attack. That can only be determined as a result of the ongoing investigations.
