Thuringia: 17-year-old hit by tram and seriously injured

Erfurt (dpa/th) - A 17-year-old was hit by a tram in Erfurt and seriously injured. The 53-year-old tram driver was in shock, according to a police spokeswoman on Monday. The 17-year-old was hit by the train while crossing the tracks on Sunday and suffered head injuries. The warning signal and emergency braking could not prevent the accident, the spokeswoman said. The police gave first aid and the girl was taken to a hospital.
