Erfurt (dpa/th) - Thuringia's investigative committee on politically motivated crime will deal with the so-called Reich citizen scene in the Free State. This was announced on Friday by several parliamentary groups in Erfurt. The representatives of the red-red-green minority coalition submitted a corresponding application. They were reacting to a large police operation against the Reich citizen scene in several federal states this week, including Thuringia.
The Green MP Madeleine Henfling explained that the networking of the so-called Reich Citizens' Scene created a real threat scenario. The aim of the committee of inquiry is to uncover dangerous right-wing structures.
According to the Ministry of the Interior, there are hundreds of so-called Reich citizens in the Free State alone. On Wednesday, the federal prosecutor had 25 people arrested during one of the largest police operations in the history of the Federal Republic. She accuses 22 of them of being a member of a terrorist organization that wanted to overthrow the political system.
