Erfurt (dpa/th) - An employee of the Erfurt veterinary office found seven dead puppies in the mailbox of the authority on Monday. Now the criminal police are investigating against the unknown perpetrator or perpetrators, as the police announced on Wednesday. The animals were probably deposited in the office's mailbox during the weekend. Cause of death and breed of the dark brown dogs are not yet known. The animal corpses were handed over to the Thuringian State Office for Consumer Protection for further investigation.
Police are asking for information on the origin of the puppies. It is determined because of a violation of the Animal Welfare Act.
