Thuringia: New justice minister and new environment minister sworn in

Erfurt (dpa/th) - The two Green politicians Doreen Denstädt and Bernhard Stengele will be sworn in as the new Minister of Justice and the new Minister for the Environment on Wednesday (9:00 a.m.) in the Thuringian state parliament. Denstädt succeeds Dirk Adams, who was dismissed at the insistence of his party. Stengele takes over the environment and energy department from Anja Siegesmund, who announced her retirement from politics before Christmas. After Adams was fired, Siegesmund also acted as acting head of the Justice and Migration Ministry.

The personal details had triggered some sharp criticism. The opposition factions in parliament accused Denstädt of not being a fully qualified lawyer and therefore not sufficiently qualified.
