Thuringia: Only 19 degrees Celsius in state administration offices

Ettersburg (dpa/th) - The public service in Thuringia should save energy. Offices and service rooms should only be heated to a maximum of 19 degrees Celsius - for a maximum of ten hours a day. The state government decided on Tuesday during their exam at Ettersburg Castle near Weimar. You are following the decisions of the federal government, said Energy Minister Anja Siegesmund (Greens). The aim is to reduce the energy consumption of the Thuringian state administration by at least 15 percent.

The general closure of certain buildings between the years and on bridge days would be examined. Instead of business trips, video or telephone conferences should be held wherever possible. In addition, water heating would be turned off in many areas, as would outdoor lighting and floodlighting in certain buildings.

Savings would apply from October at the latest and for the entire heating period in the cold season. "Saving energy is the be-all and end-all" to avoid energy shortages in winter, said Siegesmund. If gas becomes scarce, there should be restrictions up to shutdowns in the economy. According to the Federal Network Agency, this does not apply to areas for vital needs, such as food and drug production. Many medicines are delivered in glass packaging - their manufacturers, some of whom are in Thuringia, are also protected from gas shutdowns.

Siegesmund announced training and information offers by the state energy agency ThEGA for employees of the state administration.
