Thuringia: Police candidates in the middle service get more salary

Erfurt (dpa/th) - candidates for the middle service of the Thuringian police should be paid better in the coming year than those who aspire to the higher service. This is made possible by the Treasury Department's decision to only grant a candidate allowance to those in the middle service, a spokesman confirmed on Thursday. According to this, the salary of a middle-level police officer would rise to around 1,390 euros, while a higher-level officer would earn around 1,321 euros.

The ministry spokesman justified this decision with the fact that there is a particular lack of applicants for the middle service in Thuringia. On the other hand, there are enough applicants for the higher service. The "Thuringian State Newspaper" reported first. The decision was met with protests from the police union and the Greens and Left parties.
